Abstract

With the continuous improvement of drinking water quality requirements, membrane technology has been widely used as an efficient and environmentally friendly water treatment technology. However, in practical applications, membrane technology often faces challenges due to complex water quality and a wide variety of pollutants. As an important part of membrane drinking water treatment, pretreatment technology directly affects the performance of membrane filtration and effluent quality. This paper reviews the application of pretreatment technology in membrane drinking water treatment, including coagulation/flocculation pretreatment, adsorption pretreatment, oxidation pretreatment and pH adjustment pretreatment. These pretreatment technologies remove contaminants such as suspended matter, colloid, organic matter and microorganisms from the water through different mechanisms to provide high-quality influent conditions for subsequent membrane filtration. However, there are still some problems in the application of pretreatment technology, such as poor pretreatment effect, influence on membrane properties, high cost and technical limitations. In order to solve these problems, measures such as optimizing pretreatment process parameters and operation flow, developing new pretreatment technology and materials, strengthening joint research of pretreatment and membrane technology, and promoting advanced pretreatment technology and equipment are put forward in this paper. This study aims to provide theoretical support and practical guidance for the pretreatment technology of membrane drinking water treatment, promote the innovation and development of pretreatment technology, improve the efficiency of membrane filtration and effluent quality, and ensure the safety and health of people's drinking water.
