Translation strategies and cultural transmission of ancient poetry
Abstract
This paper comprehensively explores the theory and practice of ancient poetry translation, aiming to analyze the cultural and linguistic challenges faced in the process of translation, and propose corresponding solutions. This paper first summarizes the historical background and current situation of ancient poetry translation and the characteristics of ancient poetry from the perspective of translation studies, and emphasizes the close relationship between translation and cultural transmission. In the section on translation strategies, the paper classifies translation strategies and discusses the importance of strategy selection, especially the role of cultural adaptation, language characteristics and reader receptivity in translation. Through these theoretical foundations, the paper provides guiding principles for the translation of ancient poetry. Further, the article deeply analyzes the cultural connotation of ancient poetry and its influence on translation, including cultural images and symbols, historical and cultural background, philosophical thoughts and folk customs. Each aspect discusses in detail its application in poetry and corresponding translation strategies to ensure the accurate transmission of cultural information and the acceptance of target readers. Finally, the paper looks into the future of ancient poetry translation, including the development of translation technology, the innovation trend of poetry translation, education and talent training. It also emphasizes the importance and new opportunities of poetry translation under the background of globalization and informatization. This paper holds that the translation of ancient poetry is not only a process of language conversion, but also a bridge of cross-cultural communication. Through in-depth study of translation strategies and cultural connotations, it can effectively promote the dissemination and understanding of ancient poetry in different cultural and linguistic environments.
